7 Inch Round LED Headlight Shootout – 2019 | Headlight Revolution

Find the best 7″ round LED headlights here:

We bought all the 7 inch round LED headlights we could get our hands on to test for this video! Watch as we compare the lux amounts and beam patterns of these LED headlights from 25 feet.

As you can see, some did much better than others! When we look at beam patterns for 7 inch round headlights, we look for a straight cut-off line, width left to right, height under the cut-off, and a strong hotspot positioned at or directly below the center of the cut-off line. Any light above the cut-off line is potential glare in the eyes of oncoming drivers.

Oh my god don’t even get me started I bought a 7 inch standard light for my 2009 JK Jeep Wrangler after spending $300 only to find that it has H 13 clips on the back of it not the H 14 which just about every other vehicle on the planet has had to do some severe MacGyver work and bastardisation just to get the dam things going

Thanks for your efforts in making this channel the best lighting channel anywhere. Blowing up the competition and giving real world outdoor testing is a real bonus. Can't wait to get my 2020 Street Glide Special to upgrade my headlight as well as the running/turn/brake lights.

Morimoto Sealed 7 seems like the perfect middle ground. Doesn't look hideous like the Super 7 and its price falls right in between the super expensive units and the cheapos. The pattern looks perfect.

I'm not a fan of the appearance of the full LED 7" light assemblies. I much rather prefer the stock appearing glass bulb with a separate LED replaceable bulb as shown at the 3:20 mark. I would have liked to see you spend more time on this application for us classic car guys that don't want the funky looking full assemblies.
As far as the beam pattern, the Lightening Dark LED's are supposed to have a very nice beam pattern. I think you've reviewed them before. I would have liked to see you try the 9003's in that fixture and get your thoughts on it.

awesome review! I cringed a little when I saw you firing at 40 degree angle above the tree line. Hopefully there's nobody within a couple miles.

Some of these would be perfect for a Factory 5 '35 truck… Maybe the KC gravity, since it looks classic while keeping its functionality. Maybe a PIAA LP570, or maybe a KC housing with a V-4 in it…

Excellent reviews. Bottom line. Cheap really are just for looks and useless for driving and even worse for oncoming traffic.

This is one of the BEST LED HEADLIGHT REVIEWS EVER! Straight, no BS. Great test.
FYI Anything with a beam pattern that is too far from stock is illegal here in Switzerland.

Have you guys tried the GTR Lighting Ultra 2 in a 7 inch round replacement composite housing? I have a classic car with composite headlights in it, and I’m curious how the Ultra 2 would perform…

There was one you showed in a prior review but it was a knockoff of a knockoff. The Chinese "side reflector" one. There is a legit Chinese brand of those, Foshan Tuff Plus (A0101) that are excellent but hard to find anymore. A couple of retailers went exclusive with them but I forget who. They truly were US DOT (certified, not just registered) and ECE approved with legit paperwork. The problem is there are a dozen more that look identical but are terrible. The real ones have an excellent beam pattern (sharp cutoff much like a good HID projector), the rear lid is removable with screws, and has distinct packaging. The others that are identical the rear is sealed and cannot be opened (also do not have DOT stamp). Myself and a few others on Wranglerforums did a TON of research into them a few years back. Once Tuff Plus went exclusive for a few dealers they became hard to find though. I still have 3 sets in different vehicles (TJ Wrangler, Hummer H2, friends Jeep, plus one more in a Harley) and a few years later and they are all perfect, zero failures, leaks, etc. Tuff Plus does have some newer versions/models now as well but I have no idea if they are any good or as good as the original A0101 ones they made a few years ago. Tuff Plus is a brand I'd be interested in seeing a review of though regardless. Feel free to search for Tuff Plus A0101 and you will find links to where some managed to get ahold of them and had posted about them.
