Adele Celebrates 32nd Birthday With Amazing New Look

Plenty of famous figures have undergone surprising changes over the years, from alarmingly altered appearances to drastically different attitudes, with each one stirring up plenty of buzz as soon as fans become aware of what’s going on. That certainly rings true for Adele’s transformation, which has surprised fans, in part, because she’s not been around as much as she used to be.

The multi-Grammy award-winning star stepped back from the spotlight in 2016, announcing that she was taking a break from music. While there are reports that Adele is slated to drop a new album in 2020, the “Someone Like You” singer hadn’t been on tour or hit up a widely-covered public event for some time when she decided to give her fans a peek into her life via Instagram in May 2020.

When the singer shared a photo of herself for her 32nd birthday, her many social media followers noticed that she looked vastly different than she once did, and it sparked a range of reactions for various reasons.

The star used the occasion to note that she hoped her fans were, quote, “staying safe and sane during this crazy time.” She then sent out a message to frontline workers, writing:

“I’d like to thank all of our first responders and essential workers who are keeping us safe while risking their lives! You are truly our angels.”

While Instagram users were touched by the tribute, they also felt compelled to comment on Adele’s appearance, including her weight loss. One fan wrote:

“[You’ve] worked so hard to look like this and I’m so glad you’ve got your purpose, but I want to tell you that for me you were always spectacular, beautiful, and sexy woman”

Another added

“Wow […] you are stunning”

While many people were noting how good Adele looked, others pointed out the issue with commenting on the star’s weight. Despite the fact that the notes tended to be complimentary, they were still potentially problematic. One person wrote on Twitter:

“Heart goes out to the people who are triggered by the reaction to Adele’s weight loss. Celebrating people for getting skinny is extremely toxic and implies that being any degree of overweight is something to be ashamed of.”

Charli Howard, a curve model and body positivity champion, seemingly agreed with that stance. Shortly after reactions to the singer’s picture began circulating the internet, Howard penned an opinion piece for Vogue UK, where she explained:

“Discussing other people’s weight loss […] reinforces the message that being thin is something to celebrate that thinness is the key to happiness, beauty, and success. We don’t consider whether said person might have lost weight due to stress, depression, bereavement, an underlying medical condition, an eating disorder, or a million other reasons. It emphasises the view that, above all else, a woman’s worth boils down to her looks.”

Perhaps, in the future, it would be best for the public to keep their opinions about Adele’s weight to themselves. Instead, they can focus on the fact that she’s now twinning with another popular star, actress Sarah Paulson. One person on Twitter wrote:

“Apparently the next stage of Adele’s life cycle is to turn into Sarah Paulson”

And they definitely weren’t alone in that thought. Another social media user captioned images of both women:

“I’m not saying Adele and Sarah Paulson are the same person but”

Others tweeted:

“Omg they do really look like each other!!!”

And:

“And then #Adele became Sarah Paulson’s twin”

Honestly, once you take a look at their faces and compare their features, it’s hard to deny that they share similar noses, chins, and blush-worthy cheeks. Even their smiles are alike! The only real difference is their eye color. But if one of them popped in some colored contacts, we bet the resemblance would be even more striking.

Frankly, some people are now mistaking one woman for the other, with one person admitting:

“Wow it took me a minute realizing this was Adele and not Sarah Paulson… anyway both gorgeous women”

  1. Any amount of overweight is not good. Being healthy is good, whatever that weight is for your height, period. Glad she is healthy.

  2. I always thought Adele was beautiful. But her body looks amazing but her face looks so different. I thought she had a beautiful face before.

  3. Yes that is jelousy. Why people does not understand is not only about being skinny ir Big but what is mostly important is about health. ForGod's sake

  4. Let's be honest and not try to be the fake outspoken person who claims that commenting on Adels weight loss is nothing shy of being focused on " praising her for being skinny as if her weight prior had a negative impact in her life and held her down" this is by far from the truth. What people are obviously commenting on in purely the fact that there is an obvious difference in ger appearance which would be weird and then noted that nobody noticed Adele's hard earned healthy weight loss journey that was indeed a big challenge of personal motivation and strength to gain health and wellness as well of course the self esteem and courage it most definitely brings to any person who has successfully met a goal in life. And, this is what Adels fans are COMMENTING on/ simply the obvious facts… not NEGATIVITY praising "being thin" which is what this naive shallow video brings to argue. Allow Adele's hard work to be noticed and complimented on for god sake. She has worked very hard and as everyone does to gain self confidence and strength to get up everyday and put in the work and self discipline to conquer such an difficult personal goal. Its obvious she is proud and looks healthy and happy. This SIMPLY IS WHAT THE ATTENTION IS FOCUSED ON. POSOTIVE PRAISE OF ACHIEVEMENT. SO GROW UP AND BACK OFF WITH THE NEGATIVITY AND STOP WITH THE DEBATES JUST TO BEG THE DIFFER AND GET ATTENTION YOURSELF AS SOME HERO… LET SHIT IN THIS WORLD JUST BE WHAT ITVIS AND STOP WITH THE HEAVY PETTY B.S EVERYONE! ITS YOU THAT CREATES DIVIDES AND UNITY IS HONESTLY AND SIMPLY THE ANSWER AND KEY TO THE UNKNOWN PROMISE LAND THIS WORLD IS MEANT TO UNLOCK. STOP IT!!!!!

  5. Jeff's wife here I'm proud of Arielle for losing weight and eating better I'm about forty over what I should be and it makes a big difference I'm tired all the time and sometimes it's hard to breathe. It really is much better to be a healthy weight eating right and getting exercise than it is sitting around blaming trump for all your problems. Be happy for her. Have a nice day. 🦄

  6. Sorry to bust everyone’s bubble. She’s a clone. This happens all the time in the entertainment industry. Wake up people and stop idolising these fake celebs!!!!!

  7. Adele is borrowing her style from Sharon Tate influenced by Margot Robbie's portrayal in "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" as you can clearly see!

  8. NIce to see her get healthy. I lost weight too, to get healthy. Stop bashing people for wanting to be healthy ffs. Any body ever think it was to be healthier for her child?

  9. Why is it if someone gets fit and healthy it becomes about fat shaming? Let her alone and be happy for her. The twit that commented in the video basically stating it is about women…wake up it is both sexs that are judged for being fat

  10. Obesity is dangerous to a person's health, whatever gender. If you want to eat with abandon, then you are showing to everyone else that you don't care about your health. That is why Adele should be congratulated for losing weight–if that's what she did. Marxists are promoting obesity out of hatred of the good for being good.

  11. As someone who has gone through a weight loss like this the jealousy will dwindle but it hurts like hell when you tried so hard so be kind and maybe revaluate your own life if this offends you;)
